Requirements:

For projecting a Netflix video in the classroom, a few things need be in place for this to work:

  1. Laptop only
  2. Hardwired to the projector ... no Airplay
  3. Chrome browser only
  4. Chrome has to be version 62 or newer.

The TLDR;

The reason for these restrictions is copyright; Netflix needs to assure the content creators that Netflix subscribers cannot "screen" their films for profit.   As an educational institution, we fall into the gray-area on digital copyright; Because we (1) are only sharing this with our students (2) do not charge for this service and (3) play video through password-protected accounts, the digital portion of the Teach Act says this is a lawful use of copyrighted works.
